Obituary
Ken
Richmond
It is with
great sadness that we learned of Ken’s passing on Saturday 22nd November
2008 after a long struggle with illness. The funeral service took place at
Wimborne Methodist Church on Friday 28th and was attended by senior
members of the club who passed on the condolences of all club members to
Veronica, Brian and Gary.
Back
in 1969 as a Voluntary Helper at the newly created Wimborne Youth Club, Ken was
instrumental in forming this football club which started life in the bottom
reaches of the Dorset League. Officially Secretary and Team Manager Ken was also
a father figure to most of the youngsters who joined the club. Moving the club
into Wimborne Youth Club Old Boys and then to Allendale FC were also inspired by
Ken’s leadership which was recognised with the invitation to become the
club’s first President. In later years Ken’s commitment to the community and
his faith meant less time available for football but his boundless energy
benefited so many people in so many different ways.
Thanks
Mate, God Bless
