SEPTEMBER
NEWSLETTER
There have been a number of news items that have arisen during the close
season:
- We
were saddened to lose two friends of the club recently. Derek Stone passed
away in July. Derek had given us great service as Manager of the Second Team
for a good many years and he will be fondly remembered by many of us as a
super guy.
In
August we also lost Joan Edwards, wife of John and mother to Pete Edwards. Joan
was a lovely lady who supported us with John for many a season. Both will be
missed but they will remain in our thoughts as we move forward.
- Congratulations
to Rod Pope who was elected President at the recent AGM to succeed John
Russell. Our thanks also go to John for his sterling efforts in the post
over the past few years.
- Our
very best wishes also go to our Chairman Eric Case who is currently
recovering from a knee operation. Eric tells me that he hopes to make the
bench by the end of the year. The ‘nine stone cowboy’ could yet ride
again!!
- Best
wishes to Tim Colvin and Carla who have moved away from the area. We hope to
see you both again before too long.
